We all long suspected that Mama knows best but now restaurateurs Giancarlo and Katie Caldesi are proving it. In celebration of the re-release of their renowned cookery book The Italian Mama's Kitchen , they will host Italian Mama's Week across their restaurants and cookery school from 6th to 10 th October 2008.

Italian Mama's Week will see six members of staff from across Giancarlo and Katie's three restaurants; Caffe Caldesi, Caldesi Tuscan Restaurant and Caldesi in Campagna, invite their mothers in to the Caldesi kitchens for one week only. The result will be a feast of Mama foodie occasions including, Mama inspired menus and Mama cookery demonstrations .

For the duration of the festivities, each of Giancarlo and Katie's renowned London restaurants will run a dedicated "Mama's Week Menu" incorporating the Mamas' genuine Italian recipes, most of which have been in their families for generations. Meanwhile the Caldesis' Marylebone cookery school La Cucina Caldesi and their Bray restaurant Caldesi in Campagna will play host to demonstrations and cookery classes by the Mamas who will make special guest appearances throughout the week.

Most importantly, a week of Mama celebrations would not be complete without something for children – on Saturday 4th October, Alessia Barossi and Franca Boschi, will host a class for young cooking enthusiasts aged six to twelve, teaching them how to make dishes such as fresh pasta, classic ragu, potato gnocchi and other tasty Italian specialties.
