Located on the outskirts of the town centre, it is hard to believe that you are so close to so much activity when you step through the doors of Chapel Spa in Cheltenham.
The former Portland Chapel was until last year owned by Centre Parcs, before the business was sold to its current owner Emma Whitelaw, who has since overseen a £100,000 refurbishment of the building to restore it to its current glory.
Having been previously awarded 'Best Day Spa of the Year' in the Professional Beauty Awards for two years running, it is almost certain to soon start scooping more trophies for its shelves. Ideally located for any thing from a quick manicure, a full day of pampering, or even a beginner's burlesque dancing class, the spa really aims to cater for everyone.
The main focus centres on a gently lit, Egyptian style, cavernous spa, with loungers surrounding a hydrotherapy pool – great for relaxing and chatting with friends. For the more energetic, visitors can make use of the gym, or simply indulge in a range of therapies by Elemis, Carita, Eminence and maternity spa range, Mama Mio.
With day membership starting at just £40, including use of the facilities and delicious lunch supplied by the fantastic Storyteller restaurant situated just next door, the spa is also great value for money.
Signature treatments include the Organic Pure Seven Senses, a two-hour face and body indulgence, incorporating reflexology, massage, exfoliation, heat treatment and reiki pressures and also the Wrap and Dry Floatation Ritual, with a range of different wraps to choose from, followed by a floatation experience in a warm water blanket – a truly heavenly experience.
Or for something a bit different, why not try the Arabian Rasul with some friends. This centuries old cleansing ritual was a social part of Arabian life for the man of the house and his harem of wives. Today this aromatic temple is used by couples and friends who appreciate the sharing aspect of the experience. In the gentle steamy atmosphere, you'll apply therapeutic muds to the body, which work to exfoliate dead skin cells, eliminate toxins and boost the circulation. A warm rain shower completes the ritual, leaving your skin deep-cleansed and beautifully soft when you emerge.
